L.O.V.E.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. (1 Corinthians 13:4-8)

NYP - BiTC

My name is Fu Yin Tao, Grace and I have recently graduated from Beijing Information Technology College, BiTC. I came into this college in September 2006, and was appointed as the "China Singapore Students Cultural Exchange Club" President in March 2007. Over the past two years, I have hosted students from Singapore, Nanyang Polytechnic, Batch 1 - 9. We had a great experience through the exchange of culture and bonding. I have learn much more about Singapore, and as well as Beijing even more by bringing the students around to many places.
As part of your program in Beijing, I hope you will experience as much as possible of the culture here. I am sure you will enjoy your stay as much as the previous batches did. If you have any questions, do feel free to approach me and I will be glad to help you out as much as possible
With great thanks to everyone!
Wishing the club and exchange programme a great future endeavor!

NY Subway never stop!! WTH Beijing Subway is like that! Great Wall really already really killed me. 抱怨抱怨 在地铁来的那个时候 广播说了 please keep away from the screen door 然后那个美国人说 "it is wrong! it should be sliding door. i can't understand what is she talking about. i can't understand her poor different chinese accent in english at all!!"
I Love Beijing Whatever it looks like! That is my HOME!!

Earth Hour

EarthHour

Earth Hour is an annual international event created by the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature/World Wildlife Fund), held on the last Saturday of March, that asks households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change. It was pioneered by WWF Australia and the Sydney Morning Herald in 2007, and achieved worldwide participation in 2008.

Earth Hour will next take place on Saturday, March 28 2009 at 8:30 pm, local time.

How can i participate?
Simply switch off your lights for 1 hour on Saturday, March 28 2009 at 8:30 to 9:30 pm

Was reading HWZ and happen to read this thread. =D Let's all participate!
Just turn off the lights! Ask your parents to go to the movies (*since lights also off*) or have candle light dinner at home for an hour! It's on a Saturday so most people will be out! =D Get your parents to off the lights too! Leave them for their romantism. =D And if you happen to vote for Earth and see your neighbours with their lights on, politely go tell them about this Earth Hour thing! =D

It's the first time we are participating in this! =D

VOTE EARTH
YOUR LIGHT SWITCH IS YOUR VOTE

This year, Earth Hour has been transformed into the world’s first global election, between Earth and global warming.

For the first time in history, people of all ages, nationalities, race and background have the opportunity to use their light switch as their vote – Switching off your lights is a vote for Earth, or leaving them on is a vote for global warming. WWF are urging the world to VOTE EARTH and reach the target of 1 billion votes, which will be presented to world leaders at the Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen 2009.

This meeting will determine official government policies to take action against global warming, which will replace the Kyoto Protocol. It is the chance for the people of the world to make their voice heard.

Earth Hour began in Sydney in 2007, when 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights for one hour. In 2008 the message had grown into a global sustainability movement, with 50 million people switching off their lights. Global landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Rome’s Colosseum, the Sydney Opera House and the Coca Cola billboard in Times Square all stood in darkness.

In 2009, Earth Hour is being taken to the next level, with the goal of 1 billion people switching off their lights as part of a global vote. Unlike any election in history, it is not about what country you’re from, but instead, what planet you’re from. VOTE EARTH is a global call to action for every individual, every business, and every community. A call to stand up and take control over the future of our planet. Over 74 countries and territories have pledged their support to VOTE EARTH during Earth Hour 2009, and this number is growing everyday.

We all have a vote, and every single vote counts. Together we can take control of the future of our planet, for future generations.

VOTE EARTH by simply switching off your lights for one hour, and join the world for Earth Hour.
